Capturing the beauty and remoteness of the Daintree Coast and Cape York started for Dean in 1989 after moving from Sydney. Born in Papua New Guinea in 1968 Dean's family moved to Australia in 1973. Dean began his interest in photography as a hobby when he was a youngster taking surf photography on Sydney's Northern Beach's. After finishing school in Sydney Dean completed a Certificate in photography at Sydney Tafe College, before escaping the big city life for the remote rainforest of Far North Queensland. Dean's joy of photography can come from the ever changing light of the rainforest, a remote beach, to hanging out of a helicopter over a remote area of Cape York.

His photographs can be seen in several promotional brouchers, posters, cafes and resorts throughout Far North Queensland. Dean has done several jobs including teaching an adult education course in photography at Mossman Tafe College, wedding photography, farm work, resort maintenance work to painting.
